As a local small business in our community, the health and wellbeing of our staff and patients is our most important priority. We continue to monitor and follow local, state and federal updates and policies from government officials. We feel it is crucial to maintain a very vigilant and organized approach to stay in alignment with partnering healthcare agencies to maintain the idea and need of “flattening the curve” to this virus spread. The following are the focus points and instructions that we have established with our staff in order to protect and minimize any spread of the coronavirus.
- Wash your hands for 20 seconds after each time of handling money or any item from a patient or delivery/courier person.
- Avoid touching your face, nose and eyes.
- Avoid shaking hands with anyone. Encourage a friendly elbow to elbow bump.
- Cough or Sneeze into your arm, elbow, sleeve or jacket.
- Keep your immune system healthy and functional, get plenty of rest, hydration, exercise and vitamins.
- Make sure staff maintain at least 6 feet from anyone, especially those displaying symptoms like coughing.
- Regularly clean and disinfect all counters, waiting areas and other spaces within the pharmacy with an EPA-approved disinfectant, like Clorox or Lysol. An approved list is found at this link: https://www.epa.gov/pesticide-registration/list-n-disinfectants-use-against-sars-cov-2.
- Regularly clean and disinfect all phones, both business and personal cell phones, door handles, refrigerator handles, computer keyboards and mice within the pharmacy with an EPA-approved disinfectant, like Clorox or Lysol.
- Regularly cleaning means clean at least every hour or every 5-10 patients, whichever is more frequent.
- Keep an alcohol-based hand sanitizer next to the checkout register where people can sanitize their hands after using common items like the signature pad.
- Encourage people to take and KEEP the store ink pens that are used for advertising.
- Give the following patient population a preferential position in line, i.e. wait on these people first in the pharmacy: older adults, pregnant women and patients with chronic health conditions.
- Report to pharmacist unusual patient complaints or surges in symptoms of fever, cough or respiratory distress being communicated by patients and surges in sales of OTC products to treat these conditions.
- We encourage our patients to park in one of our two designated parking spots and ask one of our staff to bring their prescription(s) out to their car if they are not feeling well or displaying symptoms common with the Cornavirus.
